Questions on Poetry "Dead Poets Society"

1. On of the characters that transformed from the beginning of the movie till the end was Todd. In the beginning of the movie he was just a ashy guy but then he became friends with Neil and the other boys. When the boys would meet up at the tree, he didn't think it was a good idea. Soon after Mr. Keating was helping him with his shyness in front of the class and he became more confident. He was the one who was mostly affected by Neil's death since he was his best friend. He also showed courage at the end by being one of the first of the boys to stand in front of class and telling Mr. Keating  a farewell by saying " O captain my captain."

2. The one character that was static through out the whole film ,in my opinion, was Cameron. He was always the snitch in the school and always wanted to do the right thing. When the boys began to meet for the Dead Poets Society he was one of the boys who didn't agree in going. Since Mr. Keating arrived he thought it was odd the way he taught and all and he still went for it. After the incident with Neil, he blamed Keating since he was the one that put them through a different path and so he was the one that told the administrator that the boys had meetings on the Dead Poets Society and that they would sneak out.

3. Mr. Keating was an inspiring character. He thought his class with enthusiasm and a new way to look at things. He though his students that they make their own choices but he also tells them to be cautious to the choices they make.He tells them if they have a dream then they should follow it no matter what others think and say to them. Keating does feel guilty at the end when Neil dies but he knows that it wasn't his fault. He only told Neil that he had his own choices. He did learn from the boys such as how to come together as one. His teachings are one of a kind and since the administrator did not like it he decided to fire Keating. One thing for sure is he left a seed planted in that school. Keating first thought that his teaching skills are possibly dangerous and can hurt people. At the end when most of the boys from his classroom got up in the middle of class and saw how much respect he gained from them, he realized that his teaching is a way pf helping people and he will never forget that.

4. Todd's fear was he was going to be just the shy kids with no friends. He soon overcame those fears when he met both Keating and Neil. Neil was his first friend and which he was introduced to the others. In class Todd was very shy and had stage fright. Mr. Keating helped Todd get over his stage fright by helping him overcome his way of thinking. Thanks to these two he was soon more confident.
Neil's number one fear throughout the movie was his father. You could say he did and didn't overcome his fear. He did overcome his father when Neil decided to disobey him and go non with his dream of acting in the theater. He didn't overcome it when he tried to escape it by committing suicide. Since his father never respected Neil's decision Neil chose to take his life. Neil was a very smart boy who had big dreams. His father was the obstacle of his life.
Knox is one of those static characters that did not change. He had an obsession called romanticism. One of the things he did throughout the film was falling in love with a girl named Chris. His fear was that he would never find a girl like that in his entire lifetime. So what he decided to do was give her attention by going to see her, calling her, and reading her a poem. This was also risky because he knows that she has a boyfriend but is not treating her the way he is. At the end he finally gets to go out with her and she broke up with her boyfriend and chose him.
Charlie is one of those guys who says he has no fear and can do what he wants. That is what he thought would happen. His fear was getting in trouble but he never showed it. He always got away with many of his mischief. He thinks that he is the ruler or leader of the group.Soon he pays for his consequences. He decided to put a little article on the school's newspaper stating that they should have girls at the academy. He pays for his actions when the administrator hits him with a paddle. He did overcome his fear at the end when Cameron decided to tell on them and blame Keating. He knew his actions would take him to expulsion so he decided to punch him without caring if he got in trouble or not.
